Ahhh. Next to "I love you" and "We'd like to offer you a three book deal!", it's sweetest phrase in the whole world. It's the last line of all the good fairy tales, and you can expect one in almost every book, movie and play. In the romance industry, they've given it the abbreviation HEA, and require every novel to have a HEA, or at least a HFN (Happily For Now) ending.
So if the quest for the Happily Ever After is so deeply ingrained in our culture, why is it so freaking hard to achieve? And why am I bothering to blog about it? Isn't there enough banal content out there without adding mine?
Probably.
But, Einstein's definition of insanity is, "Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results." And I've got goals--visions of what my HEA should be, and what I've been doing isn't getting me there. Sure, you could read my profile and say, "Sheesh! What else does the greedy *itch want?" All of it. Everything. I want my writing career to go crazy huge. I want to scrapbook every amazing moment of my family's lives. I want to channel Rachel Ray, and Martha Stewart and the Fly Lady, and get a freaking clue when it comes to all of these layers of technology I've ignored for the past decade. I want to be a better mom, wife and friend. I want to do more, be more and inject more fun into every single day.
Is that too much to ask of a humble blog?
I'm gambling it isn't. Blogging is a form of accountability--once you've got it posted, it's there for the world to see. Gulp! So if I put my goal out there, I'd better have a plan in place to get 'er done. And your bonus, my HEA friend, is that if you share any of my goals, my quest helps you, too.
